Sunny day -feeling Great!

Gosh it was hot on Sunday! Just like the Med everyone in their summer attire and as I went around the local supermarket there was that light cheerful atmosphere about the place. The UK always seem to have this atmosphere when the sun comes out. So when it is sunny we tend to feel good and conversely there can be a gloomy air about when it is pouring with rain. However we can have alot more influence on our moods than we think… Notice how you are feeling now and I want to remember a really happy time, it can be a birthday celebration or a great experience you had on holiday. Now see what you were seeing then; it may be helpful to play a “movie” of what happened,  hear what you were hearing, not only the external noises around you but also what you were saying to yourself eg this is great, etc and notice especially the feelings associated with this experience. Now make the movie larger and brighter, if there are any of your favourite colours in the movie, make those particularly brighter.  You may like to adjust the volume of the sounds or vary the tones and notice how that affects your overall feeling. When you have got the best feeling, press your forefinger and your thumb together. Now “break state” ie come out of this experience by thinking about something completely different eg what you had for breakfast. Now press your forefinger and thumb together and the experience should come back. In NLP -Neuro-Linguistic Programming this is called “anchoring” and is a great technique for creating certain feeling states. You may have to repeat this a number of times to get the anchor right. Alternative you could use a particular sound/song or picture in your mind to bring the experience back and hence the great feeling! Now you do not have to depend on the weather to be in a great mood!
