This is a great affirmation and can be very liberating. How often do we feel that if something has not worked in the past it will continue to be the same in the future. And deep down we know this not to be true as there is so much contrary evidence if only we are open to it. Again it is back to one of my previous bloggs, about where you focus your attention. Begin to change the focus of your attention and ask different questions such as “How could this work”. It is then that suddenly things can begin to work or change (more…)

A year after I set up my business in 2000, My key client at the time sent me out to Sydney Australia to do some very successful training and coaching for their sales people. When I was leaving one of the sales people gave me a copy of “Alexander and the Terrible horrible very bad day” book for my children as a memento of my visit to Australia. My children still to this day absolutely love this book as a bed time story! Alexander’s day starts off badly and just continues that way, is there something about the way in which he focuses that means that his day just seems to get worse? Anyway enough of NLP for the moment, check out the book, I am sure your children will love this too!
Hi there.
I have a great interview I’d like to share with you with my good friend and coach, Angela O’Connell.
(50mins 10 secs)
I watched with great interest the programme on Channel Four last week about Call centres under the title “Phone Rage”.
Like everyone, I have experienced some of the frustration of the customers they interviewed who were going round and round in circles with a problem that never seemed to be resolved. Whenever this happens now, (more…)
Chet’s Holmes book is a great read! There are some great strategies in it. I particular like his emphasis around the discipline and the importance of making your calls regularly, he says every sales person should be doing at least 2.5 hours daily of New business development cold calling and above all tracking their progress. For me his strategy around time management has helped me enormously; He says, identify the 6 most important things you want to achieve during the working day and then work in email and admin around them. I am regularly following this discpline rather than evaporating my days grasshopping from email to email and then wondering why my day has gone! Check it out on Amazon there are also some great reviews there
For those of you who have just started picking up the phone to make your senior level appointments; make sure you do two things: 1)Always read the voice tone of the decision-maker when he or she picks up the phone so you can assess “where they are” in their world, busy, irriated, relaxed, pensive etc and relate to it accordingly. 2) Ensure you have a valid business reason/valid listening reason before you pick up the phone, in other words ask yourself the question, if I was to stand in that persons shoes, would I listen to me? If the answer is no, then get another one and rethink your introduction.
If you get these both right or are not doing them at the moment. You will be amazed at the huge difference this will make to your conversion rate.
